Jarig!!!
Yesterday my dad Evert turned 65, and today my Poktori turned 9 (x 7 = 63), so it was a very special week; in a few months my dad and Poktori will be the same age. Today, in Sydney, I shuffled into Poktori's prison carrying balloons and a small sardine-cake present from Dane and Heajin. You can see how my voice woke him up and turned another lonely day into a rather nice one. He sends big cuddles and headbutts back to all those dear friends who sent theirs to him. And the birthday cake? Finished before I left...
On the way back the inevitable happened: got stuck on the curb of the highway because my windscreen wiper just blew off, and the rain was too heavy to see anything (and it was pitch black). It was sooo cold, and when I rang emergency services, they said it might take 90 minutes. After a rather unnerving 15 minutes, an angelic truck driver kindly helped me out by taking off the only remaining wiper and attaching it to the bolt on the left (all that in pouring rain, darkness and freezing temperatures...). The driver just wished me a safe journey home, and then went on with his business with the words, "no worries, mate". Anyone ever seen Spielberg's Duel? Definitely not this guy... RHM
